Mood Swings and Midlife with Jo Clark
The other morning when I woke up, I knew something didn’t feel quite right. It had been a while since I’d felt that low so it took me by surprise to the point of sideswipe. If you’ve been listening along for a while you probably realise I’m usually fairly upbeat, but sometimes life throws a few things all at once and I found myself in the swing of moods that so many women experience in perimenopause. Listen as I share my experience and talk about:
The hormonal changes in your body, such as fluctuating oestrogen.
How mood swings can affect you and those around you when you’re not feeling quite yourself.
Feeling overwhelmed, but not really being able to explain why and how this can impact your self-esteem and confidence.
Suggestions that can help support you through those low mood days.
Life isn’t all rainbows and unicorns for me either and I do hope that sharing my emotions and experiences allows you to realise you are not alone out there. Mood swings are a normal part of the perimenopause process and I encourage you to practise a little self compassion by reminding yourself that you’re doing the best you can.
